Greenwood Edges Siloam Springs For 6A Girls Title

Lady Bulldogs win third title in past four seasons after topping rival Lady Panthers

HOT SPRINGS (KFSM) - It wasn't a blowout like the first two meetings this season but Greenwood took care of Siloam Springs to win their third state championship in the past four seasons.

The Lady Bulldogs used a 23-0 first half run to build a 29-12 first half lead but had to hang on for a 39-31 win at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena.

Greenwood was led by Megan Hartness with 20 points as she was named the game's most valuable player after hitting 7-of-16 from the field and pulled down six rebounds. Maddie Goodner tied an Arkansas state championship game record with nine steals for the Lady Bulldogs.

Siloam Springs committed 31 turnovers and shot just 32 percent from the field. Rachel Jones led Siloam with nine points while Mayse Pippin finished with eight.

Greenwood looked as if they would coast to an easy win but Siloam used a 13-4 third quarter to make things interesting.

Greenwood coach Clay Reeves has led the Lady Bulldogs to a state championship in each of the past two seasons and four of the past six years.
