SEQUOYAH COUNTY (KFSM) - Congregation members from churches across Sequoyah County are rolling up their sleeves and getting to work on a big remodel. They're fixing up the old Children's Advocacy Center of Sallisaw.

"We are going to be redoing some floors, freshing up the walls with a fresh coat of paint, and doing some landscaping," said Jason Krohn who is the pastor of Church

"It's always been a nice facility but it's been run down for the past couple of years," said Donna Owens with the Children's Advocacy Center. "They have come in and offered to do this and we are just so grateful."

"We love helping them and partnering with the churches around the area," said David Dunn with Church. The idea of remodeling the center came from a leader at Church in Roland.

Remodeling started on Wednesday (Mar. 11) as volunteers pulled our carpet and started painting the walls. "They were really excited and really on board," said Dunn. "It gave them new energy as well."

"We just want to create an atmosphere where kids can come and feel like home," according to Owens.

Volunteers plan on being finished with the center on Saturday (Mar.14). Krohn said each church contributed more than $250 towards remodeling.
