BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) – Specialists with Wildlife Damage Control said they’ve responded to multiple calls in Benton County relating to “rabid skunks” within the last 10 days.

The first call concerning a rabid skunk came on March 16 in the north part of Bentonville.

“It was pretty much dead when I got there,” said Dan Taylor with Wildlife Damage Control.

The second call came from Little Flock on March 19, and when Taylor arrived at the residence, he said the skunk was close to dead but was “foaming at the mouth.”

On Thursday (March 26) at 11 a.m., Taylor said he responded to a third call about a rabid skunk near Southwest Flagstone Boulevard in Bentonville. This skunk was only in the beginning stages of going rabid, according to Taylor.

That amounts to three calls of rabid skunks in 10 days, and Taylor said he normally responds to about one case per year.
