SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – Springdale police arrested a person of interest in a drive-by shooting incident that took place on Pierce Avenue on March 14, authorities say.

The arrest was made on Thursday (March 26) after 10 p.m. The individual taken into custody was an unnamed 17-year-old boy, police said.

According to a news release from the Springdale Police Department, the boy was named as a person of interest in the Pierce Avenue drive-by shooting, and he also had several unrelated warrants for his arrest.

Police were out looking for the boy on Thursday evening near Pursell Street, and they knew it was possible he was armed and dangerous, the release states.

Officers later discovered that the unnamed teen was hiding inside a residence at 115 Pursell St., and they surrounded the home, according to police. The person of interest surrendered peacefully, and police found marijuana on him upon taking the boy into custody, authorities said.

He faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, failure to appear for trial and aggravated assault (all unrelated to the shooting case, in which, he is merely a person of interest), the release states.

The boy was booked into the Fayetteville Juvenile Detention Center, police said.
