SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – Thousands attended the NWA Heart Walk Saturday (April 11) at Arvest Ballpark.

David Aronson from Bentonville is one of many survivors who walked.

“As a survivor, it's very important that people should know about it, and know how to prevent heart attacks.  And know how to help somebody when they do have one,” Aronson said.

Bill Short recently had heart surgery, and said he wouldn't have been able to complete the walk had it been two months ago.

"It really feels good to feel good. I feel great,” Short said.

But walking wasn't the only thing going on at Arvest Ballpark on Saturday – there were several giveaways, performances, and activities for children.

“An exciting vibe for the community to learn about heart health,” walker Brandon Simmons said.

Organizers said the NWA Heart Walk is one of the largest heart walks in the nation, consistently being one of the top 25 walks in the country.
