FORT SMITH (KFSM)- Evangel Temple honored Fort Smith Firefighters at their services Sunday (April 12) morning.

The church is located off Dodson and Towson Ave. Senior Pastor Don Hutchings led the first service.

“They are constantly protecting us and are on call 24/7, and I know there are some great men and women who are beyond dedicated to this community, so this is our way of saying thank you,” he said.

After his sermon, the church showed some appreciation and support of our firefighters. Captain Ron Brooks and Chief Mike Richards both spoke before the congregation.

“Without having faith in God and his support in my life, as the fire chief, I don’t know how I could do this job,” Chief Richards said.

Church services at Evangel Temple are held at 9:01 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. every Sunday.

I’m wondering if they are replacing honoring Our Lord Jesus by honoring firefighters. I guess that it is just the sad times that we are living in.
