MENA (KFSM) – Rep. Nate Bell, R-Mena, announced via Facebook on April 12 that he will not seek re-election in 2016.

Bell is serving his third term and said since others have asked him if he’ll run for a fourth, he decided to make public his political plans for the immediate future.

“During my first campaign in 2010, I promised my wife and our daughters that if they would allow me to serve for 3 terms,  I would not seek additional elected office,” Bell wrote on Facebook.  “Phyllis, Tori and Hannah have supported me despite the financial hardships, loss of privacy and other considerations that go along with service in the legislature, and I am forever grateful to them for allowing me the flexibility necessary  for me to be a part of Arkansas’s state government for the past 4 ½ years.”

The Arkansas House of Representatives has 100 districts across The Natural State, and Bell serves in District 20.

On Twitter Bell wrote that he is looking forward to spending more time in his garden.
