FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — A woman who conned a local man by pretending to be country music star Alison Krauss will appear in court today (Thurs. April 16).

Police say Peggy Evers, 54, convinced 75-year-old Don Fulton she was Krauss and got him to sign his $245,000 home over to her in 2013. His bank account also fell by $40,000, according to an arrest warrant affidavit in Washington County Circuit Court.

Fulton later told police he believed Evers was Krauss and that she had changed her name to escape the paparazzi. He also said he signed his home over to Evers so that she could put it in Fulton’s son’s name.

Investigators also discovered that Evers had changed Fulton’s will to give her his money in the event of his death, according to the arrest warrant affidavit. Evers gained control of Fulton’s home by alleging merit-less battery accusations against Fulton, police said.

She was charged with failure to appear after skipping a scheduled court hearing back on Sept. 18, 2014, authorities say. She was arrested in New Mexico and booked at the Bernalillo Metropolitan Detention Center on Oct. 1, 2014, after a warrant was issued for her arrest.

In January, Evers pleaded guilty in Washington County Circuit Court to theft by deception. She received eight years probation and was ordered to pay nearly $73,000 in restitution to her elderly victim and to return his vehicles within 60 days. Evers also signed the deed to his house back over to him.

Before her case could move forward, Evers was required to complete a mental evaluation.

She will appear before a Washington County Judge later this morning.

This is getting old 5 “news.” Shouldn’t you be reporting on the lies Hillary is telling on the campaign trail instead? Shouldn’t you be telling the citizenry that she is a phony, trying to pretend she is an “average” American? Shouldn’t you be questioning the staged events she is attempting to portray as spontaneous? Why are are you so h*ll bent on making this pathological liar out to be the next coming of Barack Obama? Do you really have that much contempt for this country and what it is supposed to stand for? The answer, of course, is yes. So much contempt that you will do everything you can to protect the fraud Hillary Clinton at the expense of our future. Shameless. Now back to your infatuation with this other impostor…
