COLLEGE STATION, TX (KFSM) – When game two of the Arkansas-Texas A&M series was suspended due to rain on Saturday night, the odds of the Razorbacks rallying from an 8-3 deficit looked pretty slim.
But the difference a night of rest made.
Arkansas scored five runs in the 8th inning and then had to hold off a last out rally by the No. 1 ranked Aggies as the Razorbacks picked up the 9-8 win.
The two teams will wrap up the three game series later today in a scheduled seven inning contest.
Texas A&M (35-4, 12-4) built the 8-3 lead thanks to a sixth inning grand slam from Nick Banks late Saturday night but the Arkansas (23-17, 8-9) bats came to life Sunday afternoon. Joe Serrano provided the biggest blow as he legged out a three run triple in the eighth inning then later scored on a RBI single from Andrew Benintendi.
James Teague picked up a stressful save after he took over for Jackson Lowery in the ninth after Lowery hit the first two of the first three batters of the inning.
Chad Spanberger drove in a pair of runs while going 3-of-5 at the plate while Benintendi added three hits and scored three times.
