BEAVER LAKE (KFSM) – A man who drowned at Beaver Lake on Sunday was identified on Monday (April 20), according to officials with  Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

The man was identified as Russell C. Johnston, 38, of Seligman, Mo., according to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

The drowning happened around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday. Johnston was not wearing a life jacket, officials said.

His body was pulled from the lake around 7 a.m. by Carroll County Search and Rescue crews.

Four men were in a 10-foot-long flat bottom boat near the dam on the Carroll County side, and for an unknown reason, all men ended up in the water, according to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the drowning, officials said. The incident is still under investigation.
