Taylor’s Arm Leading Greenwood Softball

The junior pitcher has been nearly perfect all season. The Lady Bulldogs are 9-1 in the 7A/6A-Central.

GREENWOOD (KFSM) - Victoria Taylor wasn't perfect in Friday's win against Van Buren.

The Greenwood pitcher has been nearly perfect all season, though. Taylor struck out 10 and threw a complete game shutout as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 9-1 in the 7A/6A-Central.

"We really trust her on the mound and she can really trust our defense but having one of the best pitchers in the state on your team, it really makes it easier on us," senior Sydnie Henson said.

"I practice all the time," Taylor said. "I’m more motivated to what I want to do and I would have to thank my pitching coach and my dad who have helped me a pushed me through it."

Taylor has already thrown a pair of no-hitters this season and has struck out 154 batters in just 88 innings of work and she gave that credit to one pitch.

"I like to get them with the rise ball a lot," Taylor said. "I’ll get them with two strikes and then try to get them with the rise ball."

The Lady Bulldogs have lofty expectations for the 2015 season and they say just reaching the postseason won't be good enough.

"We’re really motivated to do the best we can," Henson said. "We have an awesome pitcher. Victoria is doing the best she can in every game we play and it’s just awesome having a pitcher that we can trust on the mound."

"We’re just going to have to keep up our attitudes and work hard and know that we can do it," Taylor said.
