SPRINGDALE (KFSM) -One woman was hospitalized after a medical facility in Springdale was evacuated on Thursday (April 30) in a reported hazardous material incident, fire officials said.

The woman was hospitalized with sun exposure after Northwest Family Care Westside, 3875 W. Sunset Ave., was evacuated. The woman had already been at the facility when it was evacuated and became sick by being out in the sun during the evacuation, officials said.

The evacuation began about about 9:30 a.m. after the report of an unknown odor at the facility. Fifteen people were evacuated from the building, officials said. One person went home after feeling nauseous, and two others were treated at the scene for similar symptoms.

A lab that processes X-rays and deals with chemicals used in that procedure is located in the back of the medical facility, but it was unclear whether the unknown odor originated from there, officials said.

Fire officials checking the building gave the all-clear at about 10:30 a.m. and were allowing employees and patients back inside.

The incident did not create a hazard to the general public in the area, officials said.
