FORT SMITH (KFSM) -- More than 100 competitors tested their shot at the National Shooting Sports Foundation Old Fort Rimfire Challenge at the Old Fort Gun Club this weekend.

Shooters with different skill levels came to Fort Smith from all over the nation, including California, Michigan, Maine and Iowa.

It was the third year the Old Fort Gun Club held the competition, according to Match Director Bill Striplin.

"We see amateur shooters, we see people who have never shot a gun in their life show up and shoot these events," Striplin said.

The competitors shot at 12 different stages, trying to hit targets as quickly as possible.

$15,000 worth of prizes were passed out to the competitors Saturday (May 3).

The Old Fort Gun Club will host the Rimfire Challenge World Championship in October.
