RUDY (KFSM)– The Johnson County and Crawford County dive teams are in day four of search and recovery efforts for an Alma man, who went missing while swimming on Monday (May 11).
Crawford County Sheriff Ron Brown said Skylar Combs, 19, was swimming at Grotto swimming hole in Rudy, when he went under and never resurfaced Monday afternoon. At the time, the creek was at flood stage due to recent rainfall.
“We had a 19-year-old male, a 19-year-old female and 17-year-old female came down here to swim,” Brown said Monday. “The 19-year-old male went into the water, just slid into the water to start swimming was holding hands with the 17-year-old. They broke loose and he went down stream, went underwater and he has not surfaced.”
Thursday, Brown said the Johnson County Dive Team was using an air boat to search for Combs’ body. He said divers with the Crawford County and Washington County dive teams will also hit the water Thursday afternoon to look for the body.
The Crawford County Department of Emergency Management, the Crawford County Search and Rescue Team, Arkansas State Police and members of the Springdale Police Department are also helping with the search.
