FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM)- The Fayetteville Police Department arrested two men Wednesday (May 13) on suspicion of armed robbery.
Elijah Wayne Carter, 27, and Tony Virgil Holden, 24, were arrested for robbing a Murphy USA gas station on Wedington Drive just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to arrest reports from police. The men were also linked to another robbery at a Subway on Wedington Drive that occurred on April 8, the reports state.
An employee at Murphy USA called 911 and told police a man, later identified as Carter, pulled two pistols from the waistband of his pants and pointed them at her, then took money, cigarettes and cigarillos from the cashier counter, according to the arrest reports. The victim recognized the suspect as a frequent customer, the reports state. Carter was accompanied by Holden during both robberies, according to the reports.
The victim of the Murphy USA robbery identified Carter and Holden in a photo line-up, and the victim of the Subway robbery positively identified Holden as a suspect, the reports state.
Officers located the suspects at an apartment on Jewell Road as the men were putting items in the dumpster, according to the arrest reports. Police found clothing worn by Carter during the Murphy USA robbery, as well as multiple cigarette cartons in the trash, the reports state.
Carter and Holden were taken in for questioning and confessed their involvement in the Subway robbery, according to the arrest reports.
Carter is facing aggravated robbery, arson and criminal mischief charges and Holden is facing an aggravated robbery charge, jail records show. As of Wednesday night, bond for both men had not been set, but their first court appearance has been scheduled for May 15.
