FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - According to U.S. News and World Report, four of the five top high schools in the state are located in Northwest Arkansas.

For the fourth year in a row, Haas Hall Academy in Fayetteville took home the #1 ranking. Superintendent Martin Schoppmeyer said the award is a testament to their hard work.

"I think it's a great accomplishment for Haas Hall when you consider we've been open 11 years and we started in a converted dairy barn back in 2004 and have gone quite a ways in a short amount of time," Schoppmeyer said.

He said they have a 100% college acceptance rating, and said when they keep getting awarded top in the state, that only helps the students more.

"It allows our scholars opportunities to go to various colleges and they have interest in recruiting our scholars because they are so highly ranked," Schoppmeyer said.

Also on the list is the Rogers School District, with two top-five schools. Rogers High School is ranked third, while Heritage High School is ranked fifth. Superintendent Janie Darr said she was overwhelmed to see two of her schools ranked so high.

"What it said to me is wherever your student attends high school in Rogers, he or she is going to get an excellent education and this just helps confirm that," Darr said.

She said the rankings are a big deal for the schools, which both have 2,000 students and a climbing minority population.

"It lets them know that what they have done, what they are doing is making a difference and it makes me very proud," Darr said.

According to the report, analysts based the rankings on four categories: student to teacher ratio, college readiness, mathematics and literacy.

Bentonville High school was #2 on the list. To see the complete list, click here.
