FORT SMITH (KFSM) - Hundreds of seniors across the area recieved their diplomas this past weekend and hundreds more getting ready to graduate this week. Seniors at both Southside and Northside High School in Fort Smith will graduate later this week.

For each student, their plans for graduation are different. Some stay at home and start working, while others go out of state to attend college. Whatever their plans might be, it's always a stressful yet exciting time of the year.

Some said it's hectic inside and outside the classroom. Many high school seniors just had prom this past weekend which is always a night to remember for them.

Colleen Weidman is a graduate from Northside High School. She is planning to attend college next fall and is looking forward to this next step in her life. "I'm going to attend UCA and study to be a physical therapist."

"I'm going to to attend the University of Oklahoma to study international security studies with a minor or second major in Chinese," according to senior graduate Chase Green.

Students said they're going to miss their friends, teachers, and faculty from there schools. "I'm going to miss how easy it is to do everything," said Blake Larkin, a senior graduate at Southside High School. "I feel like in college especially after, it's going to be more dependent."

Northside's graduation ceremony will this Friday (May22) starting at 7:30 p.m. It will be held at the Mayo Thompson Stadium. Seniors at Southside will graduate this Thursday (May 21) at 7:30 p.m. at Jim Rowland Stadium.
