BELLA VISTA (KFSM) - A woman in Bella vista said the recent death of six-year-old Isaiah Torres prompted her to bring more awareness to child abuse.

Lindsey VanBlaricon donated banners to the Bella Vista City Council, which are meant to be put up along the interstate, and in high-traffic areas.

Police said Torres’ parents, Cathy and Mauricio Torres, raped and killed the boy in late March.

Although she never knew him, VanBlaricon said she felt like she had to do something in Isaiah’s memory.

VanBlaricon hoped the banners would get parents to talk to their kids more about abuse.

“[I made them] to get it to spike conversation between moms, and child,” VanBlaricon said. “To really get people to talk about [abuse.] That it does exist, and for people to look out for other people, and their friends.”

The Torres' pled not guilty to capital murder, and first-degree battery, charges.

They are being held at the Benton County jail without bond.
