POTEAU (KFSM) – The Poteau River is experiencing “major historic flooding,” according to LeFlore County Emergency Management.

As of 8 a.m. Monday morning (May 25), the current stage is just over 30 feet with a forecast crest of 31 feet sometime around 12 a.m. on Wednesday (May 27).

Highway 112 in Poteau is closed and will remain closed for several days, officials said.

Thirty feet flooding affects croplands and county roads from southeast of Poteau to the mouth of Brazil Creek, according to LeFlore County Emergency Management.
