LAVACA (KFSM) — 5NEWS was first on the scene while Sebastian County crews were hard at work retrieving a vehicle that wrecked into a flooded ditch today.

The driver was a female in her mid-30’s. Crews on the scene say the woman looked down at something in the vehicle and lost control of the black Nissan Juke, causing her to wreck into a flooded ditch on Bugscuffle Road in Lavaca.

Sebastian County dispatch said the call came in around 6:00 a.m. this morning (May 27th). They also told us that the woman called 911 on her own.

When crews arrived on-scene, she was already out of the vehicle. Officers say she waded through the flooded ditch and was sitting on the side of the road when help arrived.

Sebastian County Police told 5NEWS that the driver was not injured and was not taken to the hospital.

Crews believe the car has major water damage and is considered to be totaled.
