Van Ashe Drive has been under construction for just more than a year now and it should be nearing completion in August. The two pieces of North South streets across the open field are essentially complete according to Chris Brown, city engineer. Currently they are just putting the finishing touches on the final sidewalk, trail, and the final lift of asphalt. The last part of completion is the widening of Highway 49 and 112. Crews are also working to configure Highway 112. The current drive is a sharp right turn, however it will be converted into a T-Section, so that drivers can turn left or right. The road connects lots of neighborhoods to the West side of the city into the shopping areas, creating more economic development in the area.
