FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – Walton Arts Center will undergo an expansion after receiving a $500,000 donation from General Mills Tuesday.

The gift is designated as a contribution to a $23 million campaign that will add 30,000 square feet of space, including additions to the Starr Theater and an expanded lobby connecting to Dickson Street.

“Thanks to this very generous gift, General MillsĀ  and Walton Arts Center will continue collaborating to create a world-class venue where people of all ages can enjoy great entertainment and increasing their access to the arts,” said Peter B. Lane, president and CEO of Walton Arts Center.

Construction of the main lobby and Starr Theater will occur during the summer months of 2015 and 2016, and officials hope the Dickson Street renovations are completed by fall of 2016.

In recognition of the donation, the Walton Arts Center will rename the box office as the General Mills Box Office.
