FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – A new Fayetteville ordinance passed by the city council prohibits parking on city streets in front of and blocking a mailbox, police say.
The city council passed the ordinance on May 5, amending Fayetteville Code 72.03 and restricting parking in front of mailboxes on city streets Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The new ordinance doesn’t apply to days where mail is not delivered, according to a news release.
Although the ordinance went into effect on June 4, Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor ordered a 60-day grace period for ordinance violators.
No citations will be issued for this particular ordinance until Aug. 6, police said.
