FORT SMITH (KFSM) - According to recent statistics, Arkansas is ranked number four in the nation for obesity. Coordinators at Sparks Nutrition Center are hoping to change that with a new class.

Mission SlimPossible is an 8-week weight loss program that started in January and is already earning praise from those who attended. Participants will learn about basic nutrition, meal planning, smart shopping, dining out,  social activities, and behavior modification.

"This is an education on how to lose weight for a lifetime," Nutrition Coordinator Sarah Sawyer said.

The last class consisted of 12 people who lost a combined 82lbs.

Participants meet once a week for eight weeks. Access to Marvin Altman Fitness Center is included in the class along with consultations with dieticians and physical therapists.

Another Mission SlimPossible class begins June 22. For information on how to register, click HERE.
