BENTONVILLE (KFSM) – The Benton County Sheriff’s Office issued 33 citations for seat belt violations during its “Click It or Ticket” campaign from May 18 to May 31.

The sheriff’s office participated in the campaign as part of a national enforcement and communication to road users about the importance of seat belts.

‘We believe we saved lives,” said Lt. Harold Gage. “We know for a fact that seat belts save lives in motor vehicle crashes, and I think we got people’s attention by cracking down hard.”

According to a release, the sheriff’s office states the national seat belt use rate is at 87 percent.
