GORE (KFSM) — A woman was rescued by teams in Sequoyah County after a boat capsized west of Gore on the Illinois River, according to Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart.

There were a total of three people in the boat, and when it tipped over, two were able to swim to safety while the third held on to a tree in the middle of the river, according to the sheriff.

He said water was swift and rising due to the release of the water from Tenkiller Lake into the Illinois River.
