FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - The ninth annual NWA Pride Parade had record-breaking attendance this year, with more than 2,300 people coming out to support the LGBT community. Last year, organizers said they had 700.

Sugar Ellis and Blanca Luna attended the parade, and said the timing of the event was perfect with the recent Supreme Court ruling to allow same sex marriages.

"We're officially now equal and we are considered equals to everybody and that's beautiful to be in this ambience," Luna said.

Padma Viswanathan and her husband Geoff also came out Saturday (June 27) to cheer on progress.

"It was just one of the biggest civil rights of our time and it happened to come the day before the pride parade and so it's been a great week," Geoff said.

The parade featured many local businesses and churches, and two marriages were performed during the eventon Dickson Street on the Center for Equality float.
