Deputies: Berryville Man Assaults Victim, Ties Him To Tree And Steals His Car

BERRYVILLE (KFSM) – A Berryville man is behind bars after deputies say he assaulted a man with a pistol, tied him to a tree and stole his car.

Jeffrey E. Matlock was booked into the Carroll County Detention Center on Saturday (June 27) and faces charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping, terroristic threatening, fleeing and more.

Carroll County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Mercy Hospital Berryville at 12:16 p.m. on Saturday to investigate an assault. The victim reported that he gave a ride to Matlock, who assaulted him with a pistol, tied him to a tree and then stole his vehicle, cash and other possessions, deputies said.

The vehicle stolen was a 2012 Hyundai Genesis, and it was found that afternoon at 2:01 p.m. on County Road 717, according to the sheriff’s office. Matlock was not found with the vehicle. The victim’s car and possessions were recovered by authorities.

Matlock was eventually spotted on County Road 737 and later taken into custody, according to deputies.
