SPRINGDALE (KFSM) - Some of the best cowboys and cowgirls in the country will be in Springdale this week to compete in the rodeo.

The 71st annual Rodeo of the Ozarks will be held at Parsons Stadium in Springdale. The four-day event runs from Wednesday, July 1 until Saturday, July 4.

"It's like going to a football or basketball professional game, these are pros," said Rick Culver, executive director of the Rodeo of the Ozarks. "So, it's not just what you would normally see. I mean this is what these people do for a living."

Rodeo events include bareback riding, steer wrestling and bull riding. New this year, there will be two female trick riders.

"They'll come in and do some entertaining on their horsebacks and do some tricks," Culver said. "That's something we haven't had in the last few years."
