FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – Former Razorback Andrew Benintendi officially signed with the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday morning (June 30), according to a news release.

He was selected number seven overall in the MLB Draft earlier this month.

Benintendi swept national player of the year awards his sophomore season, winning the Golden Spikes Award, the Dick Howser Trophy, Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year and Baseball America Player of the Year. He finished the 2015 season with a .376 batting average, including 20 home runs, 13 doubles, 57 runs batted in and a .717 slugging percentage.
