RUSSELLVILLE (KFSM) – The Army Corps of Engineers announced on Tuesday (June 30) that it was reopening a beach at Lake Dardanelle that had been previously closed due to higher-than-acceptable E. coli levels.
Piney Bay beach was closed on June 4 but is now open once more.
Recent water tests have determined the area is once again safe for swimming.
Officials said the high bacteria levels that caused the beach to be closed earlier in the month could have been caused by runoff following heavy rains.
