SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – Tuesday (June 30) marks the final day that Kathy O’Kelley will serve as the Springdale Police Chief, officials say.

She submitted her letter of retirement to Mayor Doug Sprouse on May 6.

O’Kelley said she told the mayor in 2014 that she was planning to retire.

Interim Police Chief Captain Mike Peters will take over for O’Kelley on Wednesday (July 1), according to the department.

O’Kelley served as chief of police for nearly a decade.
