FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- Holiday festivities start early this year at the Northwest Arkansas Mall. A big fireworks display is expected later in the evening on Friday (July 3), where hundreds of families will be able to gather under a sky filled with lights.

The fireworks show at the mall is scheduled to begin at 9:25 p.m. and end at 10 p.m.

On Saturday (July 4), Arvest Ballpark in Springdale will host one of the biggest firework shows in  Northwest Arkansas.

Matt Tate, lead shooter for the Arvest show, said the display will include more than 800, 3-inch shells and 20 comets.

The pyro-technician team has been preparing since October for the 15-minute show.  A lot of preparation went into choreographing the show to five different songs throughout the night. The festivities are being presented by The Walmart Museum.

Before the fireworks show begins, two collegiate summer league teams, the Joplin Outlaws  and Nevada Griffins, are set to  play an exhibition baseball game scheduled to start at 6:35 p.m. The fireworks show is scheduled to begin after the baseball game ends.
