VAN BUREN (KFSM) – City leaders will decide Monday (July 6) if they want to pump $1.3 million into making Veterans Park in Van Buren more of an area attraction.

The city’s director of planning, Joseph Hurst, said if approved, that money would be spent on adding more history to the park in honor of area veterans. Also, the park will have playground equipment to make sure the little ones have a fun place to play.

“It will be the first part of trying to get new trails and try to refurbish other parks in the city,” said Hurst. He adds that upgrading Veterans Park will be a great first start for the city.

The Park and Recreation Commission meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Municipal Complex. A new commission member will also be introduced at the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend.
