ARKANSAS (KTHV) – Arkansas has been ordered to pay over $28,000 in attorney’s fees and costs after losing its appeal of a federal judge’s ruling that struck down the state’s 12-week abortion ban as unconstitutional.

The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on July 7 awarded the costs associated with the appeal to the attorneys representing two Little Rock attorneys who challenged the ban. A three-judge panel of the court sided with the doctors struck the ban down in May. In June, the state asked for a rehearing before the full appeals court.

The court ordered Arkansas to pay $76.30 for costs, $1,375 in expenses and $27,060 in attorney’s fees.
