FORT SMITH (KFSM) – The group Western Arkansas Runners has organized a memorial run for the man who police said was shot and killed while running in Fort Smith on Saturday (July 11).

According to the Facebook event page “Brent Morrison Memorial Run/Walk,” the run will take place Saturday, July 18 at 6:30 a.m.

Those who want to participate in the run will meet at the parking lot at Wells Lake, according to the page.

“We will have a moment of silence before heading out. Miles will be up to individuals, and walkers are more than welcome. This is about remembering one of our community and taking back Chaffee,” the page states.

There will be a place to leave items in honor of Morrison at the event.

The photo of Morrison was taken and cropped from the Facebook event page, but the original photo has a watermark from ArkansasOutside.com.

I’d love to go but I’ll need to know why a guy was shot dead in the street first, and of the killer is still on the loose.

I know an arrest has been made, but nothing has linked the suspect to the crime yet besides the fact he was there (along with others).
