HOT SPRINGS (KFSM) – A woman from Van Buren won the 78th annual Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant in Hot Springs.

Loren McDaniel, 22, was crowned Saturday (July 11) night in front of more than 2,500 people at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hot Springs, according to a release. McDaniel graduated in May from the University of Arkansas where she was a theater major.

According to the release, McDaniel won a $20,000 scholarship from Ted and Shannon Boy Skokos, Citgo, and the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Foundation. In addition, it states she was given more than $75,000 in other awards, wardrobe, transportation, and gifts.

She will now represent the Natural State at the 2016 Miss America pageant in Atlantic City airing Sunday, September 13th. This show is put on by the Miss America Foundation and Dick Clark Productions.
