BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (KFSM) - You can easily say Arkansas stole the show during SEC media days this week whether it was Bret Bielema's quotes, or the shoes on his feet.

This team is ready for what's in store for them in the third year under Bielema. The Razorbacks were picked to finish fourth in the West by the media Thursday. But, they've got higher hopes than that.

“I don't think anyone has as high expectations for us as we do ourselves,” wide receiver Keon Hatcher said. “We just keep grinding. We keep working hard day in and day out. I feel like we're going to have a pretty big season, but you can't say that until it happens.”

Although the offense was the main topic of discussion, you can't count out what this team does on the other side of the ball.

“I've kind of referenced our defense as the bad news bears for the people who are of that vintage, that can understand where we're coming from,” Bielema said. “A bunch of kids that come from nowhere, play well together, and have great results.”

Even though the defense hasn’t gotten the attention, they’ll be an important part to the Hogs success.

“A lot of guys aren't getting preseason hype, but we practice with those guys day in and day out,” running back Jonathan Williams said. “So I see a lot of guys who are going to be able to step up into leadership roles, and step up and help the defense a whole lot.”

Beliema says they want to make that known.

“We want people to leave the ball game knowing they had just been tackled by Arkansas. Not only Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, but maybe a little bit next week. You know, so I think there's a lot of things we can do.”

We'll see what's in store exactly for this team in 50 more days.
