5NEWS Employee Participated In Miss Arkansas 2015 Pageant

FORT SMITH (KFSM) - Last week, a Van Buren native received the crown of Miss Arkansas 2015. But, a 5NEWS employee also walked the stage at the 78th annual pageant in Hot Springs - Joni Fields-Adams.

For a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Sunday (July 19), anchor Jay Plyburn to Miss University of Arkansas Fort Smith. Joni, who is a camera operator at 5NEWS, said the pageant helped her develop life long friendship.

Every title holder enters the pageant on a platform and hers was "Project Unforgotten," which focused on remembering veterans. Her grandfather inspired her to pursue the topic, he served in Vietnam. She won over $1,300 in scholarship, she said she plans on competing again next summer.
