FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - A local nonprofit group donated two dozen bikes to veterans in Fayetteville on Tuesday (July 21).

Pedal It Forward NWA partnered with the VA Peer Support Outreach Program in Fayetteville to give free bicycles to veterans. The group takes donated used bikes, refurbishes them and then gives them to local organizations.

"We accept all bikes in all kinds of different conditions," said Justin Tubb, President of Pedal It Forward NWA. "Some are literally almost brand new and have hardly been ridden at all and they don't need anything. Others we part out, because they're too far gone."

Jim Hale, a patient at the VA, received one of the bikes. He said it'll will make a big difference in his life.

"This is another tool that I can use to physically recover and that means everything," he said. "To specifically help veterans like this it's hard to express my gratitude."

Pedal It Forward NWA is based out of Bentonville. For information on how you can help click here.
