LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) – A culture of tuberculosis broke at the CHI St. Vincent Infirmary lab in Little Rock on Tuesday (July 21), according to hospital officials.
Officials said they took immediate precautions to determine if patients, visitors or staff were at risk. The hospital also contacted the Arkansas Department of Health. At this time, they believe everyone is safe.
CHI St. Vincent Infirmary released the following statement regarding the incident:
“CHI St. Vincent took immediate precautions after a culture of TB broke in our lab. Appropriate steps were taken to determine if patients, visitors or staff were at risk. We then took additional precautions and contacted the Arkansas Department of Health. Safety is our top priority and our procedures were followed to ensure everyone was protected.”
