FORT SMITH (KFSM) - Academy Sports is teaming up with the Boys and Girls Club in Fort Smith on Thursday (July 30) to help out some families in need of a little help ahead of the upcoming school year.
Thirty kids from the Boys and Girls Club will get to go to the store and shop for school supplies and all on Academy's tab. The sports store is giving each child a $100 gift card to go towards things like clothes, backpacks, and even shoes for the upcoming school year.
"The best part of it all is to watch the kids faces," said Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club Jerry Glidewell. He adds, "its like watching a kid at Christmas time opening presents."
Glidewell said the kids are so excited to be able to shop for items for the back to school event.
Kids will go to Academy Sports and Outdoors at 2:30 p.m. today to start their back to school shopping.
