FORT SMITH (KFSM)- A car drove into the Coffee Cup coffee shop on Rogers Ave. in Fort Smith Tuesday morning (August 4), according to a post on the business’ Instagram.

The post from user thecoffeecupfsm states:

“Everyone is fine! Some people just really want drive-thru coffee. Accidents happen. We will be closed today, but have free brewed coffee all day as we are cleaning. And will be open tomorrow morning.”

A photo of the car inside the shop was included.

Fort Smith police responded to the crash at about 7:20 a.m. The driver told officers he was pulling into a parking spot in front of the Coffee Cup and then accidentally accelerated, according to police. The driver was alone inside the car and officers did not issue any citations.

The damage to the property is estimated to be around $20,000, but it could be more, according to police.

If I owned a business, I would either not have parking facing the building or have concrete blocks in my parking spots & barriers in front of my building to prevent major damage from vehicles.
