Arkansas Backfield More Than ‘Dynamic Duo’

Kody Walker and freshman Rawleigh Williams III gives Razorbacks four weapons at running back

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams get plenty of attention.

As they should. After all, both ran for 1,100 yards and 12 touchdowns last season for Arkansas but the Razorbacks' backfield has even more talent beyond the dynamic duo.

Kody Walker has seven rushing touchdowns in his career with the Hogs and freshman Rawleigh Williams III looks to be another dangerous threat.

"Rawleigh has caught the eye of a lot of people," Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said. "He's  very impressive. Very explosive. He catches the ball extremely well.  Incredible work ethic. (Jonathan Williams), we call him shadow because every time  you see (Jonathan Williams), he's standing right behind him. Every drill, every  workout, everything. J-Will is kind of batting at him, like stay  away from me. Kind of  having some fun with it but if there's a guy he should emulate, that would be the guy."

The conversation will always begin and end with Collins and Jonathan Williams this season, though. The two are considered the best running back combination in the nation by multiple media outlets and Bielema isn't taking that for granted.

"As a head coach, you're always two to three years in advance," Bielema said. "At the end of this year obviously (Williams) will be going. If Alex has the season I'd like him to have, he'll probably be going as well. Going to get Kody back for a sixth year. To have a freshman that Rawleigh has come in and really have two recruits on our list that are high up on our priority that if I get one of those two we'll be a freak show. So that will be good."
