Local Products Impress Early In Hogs Camp

Tight ends O’Grady and Cantrell among those to shine in first week of practice

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - When the Arkansas recruiting class of 2015 was locked up in February, most thought the Razorbacks had a handful of players who could contribute right away.

Fast forward seven months, the Hogs have far more than a handful of viable options from the group.

Tight ends Austin Cantrell (Roland) and C.J. O'Grady (Fayetteville) played their high school football in the area and now they looked poised to make an impact right away for Arkansas.

"We're going to have depth," O'Grady said. "It's not going to be all about me. It's a team thing. It's a team sport so if I'm tired or injured we'll have more guys coming in to help us out as a team."

Bret Bielema was quick to dish out compliments about both tight ends in his media day press conference.

"A guy that has really jumped out to us in particular is Austin Cantrell," Bielema said. "He amazed me a little bit that he'll come up and be on the line of scrimmage and then he'll be at a wing then motion to a fullback. The only thing we have to do now is get him to move his feet. He's so used to when he was in high school when he hit somebody they fell down."

O'Grady will likely be more of an outside threat as a tight end and Bielema said the Fayetteville native has already made some impressive plays in practice.
