HOUSTON (KFSM) — A former NFL player and Razorback  football and track and field champion is winning titles in a different field, as he claimed season 11’s title of  “Food Network Star” Sunday (Aug. 16).

Eddie Jackson — who is also known as the Fit Chef  — was a cornerback for the Razorback Football team for the 2000-2003 seasons. He was also a College All-American in Track and Field, winning four national titles.

After college, he signed with the Carolina Panthers, then played for the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. However, injuries caused him to retire, prompting a career shift.

Now he owns the Caribbean Grill food truck in  Houston and is a personal trainer. He also competed on Fox’s “MasterChef” in 2013.

His new TV show, BBQ Blitz, will premier on the Food Network on Oct. 9 at 9:30 p.m.
