Eleven People Arrested On Suspicion Of Cockfighting In Saline County

MABELVALE (KTHV) — Eleven people were arrested at an active cockfighting event in Mabelvale, according to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.

An anonymous caller reportedly informed police of the event taking place behind a home in the 9100 block of Lee Lane. Deputies observed an unusual amount of vehicles parked in the area and heard the sounds of roosters crowing in the woods behind that address.

When deputies entered the woods, they observed approximately 30-35 individuals standing near, what appeared to be, a cockfighting pit. Several of the individuals ran from the scene. There were men, women and children attending the event.

A total of 11 individuals were arrested for felony unlawful animal fighting. Several were arrested for felony fleeing and one was charged with possession of a firearm.
