ELM SPRINGS (KFSM) -- The body of a man was recovered Tuesday (August 18) from Lake Elmdale in Elm Springs, according to the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission.

The man drowned around 7:40 p.m. Sunday after getting out of his pontoon boat to follow his dog that had jumped out, according to AGFC.  The dog was able to make it back on the boat, but the man struggled to swim and went under, officials said. The man’s family said he was a good swimmer.

The AGFC identified the man as Jesse Spigner.

The lake is located southwest of Elm Springs, in the northern part of Washington County.
