Early Morning Accident Kills Pedestrian, Victim Identified

BENTON COUNTY (KFSM)– An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was hit and killed early Saturday morning (August 22).

Arkansas State Police have identified 29-year-old Ryan Dame of Fort Smith, as the victim.

The accident happened around 3 a.m. along Interstate 49 South near mile-marker 75, according to ASP.

A police report states a 2015 GMC Sierra, driven by James Freeman of Springdale, was headed southbound on I-49 when Dame entered the roadway from the east side. Investigators state Freeman was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian.
