FORT SMITH (KFSM) -- Continuing our coverage highlighting River Valley agencies that benefit from the United Way of Fort Smith, the director of a local girls shelter said without them they would be in a financial hole.
In a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Saturday (August 22), anchor Daren Bobb interviewed Kathy Bell of the Girls Shelter of Fort Smith. She said the shelter currently accommodates nine girls and some of them are graduating from high school with high grades. She also said the shelter's priority is to remove girls from a negative environment and put them in one where they can succeed.
The girls arrive to the shelter through the court system.
